The Centre for Safeguarding Minors and Vulnerable Persons to Offer a SeMinar on Trauma In the context of Sexual Abuse
From March 24-27, The Centre for Safeguarding Minors and Vulnerable Persons will offer a seminar studiying the dynamic of trauma, especially in abused persons. This has a deep impact on how to avoid traumatization, how to treat victims in court, and how to provide pastoral care to them. Victims of traumatizing relationships are more vulnerable to abusing contacts. In the light of Christian redemption, a way to healing and reconciliation can be opened.
Prof. Andrea Farina: Today more than ever it is essential to continue talking about boys and girls to direct public attention to and encourage debate on the inequalities that are characterizing the living conditions and developmental opportunities of many minors.
St. Paul University centre for safeguarding hosts webinar on the dynamics of sexual abuse
“The presentation will have two parts. First, that of the long-lasting wounds caused by priests’ sexual abuse of children, to which is grafted the question of forgiveness that is too often demanded of victims/survivors. Then the aspect of the social and ecclesial factors leading to these abuses and their concealment, particularly with regard to the vision of sexuality in the Church.”
